Steve Copping was at East Newport on July 10th to film the 2010 British Under 19's Individual Final.  If anyone wants a copy of the action then contact Steve at

Reader Clive Swallow has put his cycle speedway bike up for sale.  The full sized Archie Wilkinson, finished in black, comes with silver double walled wheels and Truvativ cranks with a 33 tooth chainring.  Clive has been in a couple of crashes, so the frame has a tiny dent and some minor scratches but is still good value at £120.  Interested?  Then email Clive at harold.hilda@virgin.net

RARE MAIDENHEAD LIONS BADGE GOES ON SALE - posted 5 April 2010

Rare cycle speedway club badges certainly attract a premium.  A Maidenhead Lions badge from the mid-Forties, is being advertsised on ebay and has already attracted a bid of £18.

The gilt badge with red and white enamel, fashioned on the “Wembley Lions” speedway racing badge was commissioned from W.O.Lewis (Badges) Ltd of Birmingham.  Maidenhead Lions were formed shortly after the Second World War.

And on the subject of bargains, a splendid looking cycle speedway bike is also on sale on ebay.  The current bid is just a fiver.

Built around a brand new Archie Wilkinson frameset, which has never been used, the 19 inch bike sports 26 inch alloy wheels with large flange Quando sealed allow hubs with stainless spokes, black anodised Powerpro chainset, Sturmey Archer rear sprocket and Trelleborg tyres.  All in all, according to the vendor, the bike is excellent condition and would cost £250 new.

Hi Spokesman - Wondered if you might be able to help. 

I am looking for two intermediate 'Archies' for my lads, Ben and Alex Harvey who both ride for Ipswich.Very few bikes seem to come up locally and I am struggling to find the finance for two new bikes.
