A major collection of cycle speedway programmes is being offered for sale on Ebay. 54 programmes, published between the late 1990s through to the early 2000s, includes rare programmes from Dudley and Tameside as well as those from Astley & Tyldesley, Birmingham, Heckmondwike, Leicester, Sandwell, Stockpiort, Wednesfield. All the programmes are said to be in good condition and many have the race results marked inside. At the time of publishing this article, the leading bid is a very modest £2.21. Also featured on the site are vintage action photos from Belle Vue and Southampton dating back to 1952. Alan Hewitson has let us know that orders for the British Team Final DVD will be posted to customers in the next couple of days. "I've had several orders to keep me busy and I'm going to post them all together" Alan told Spokesman earlier today. A rare cycle speedway programme has been saved for the sport. Bidding on the 1950 England v Holland programme closed earlier this evening. It sold for an astonishing £34.45 after a vigorous bidding war. Thankfully the programme will not be going abroad. It has been donated to the Cycle Speedway Archive, thanks to the generosity of a mystery benefactor. Plans are well advanced the transfer the cycle speedway archive to the National Cycling Archives and Cycling Heritage Centre at Warwick University. The 1950 programme will be a key archive document in the cycle speedway collection. We hope to bring you more news of this exciting development soon. We reported earlier this week the upsurge of interest in cycle speedway memorabilia. The latest item up for auction on ebay, a 1950 programme for the first ever international match between England and Holland, has attracted a staggering bid of £26. If you want to add this rare programme to your collection, you'll have to hurry as there is just over 24 hours to go before bidding ends. The recent upsurge of interest in cycle speedway memorabilia shows no sign of slowing down, despite the current economic recession. More and more collectors consider old cycle speedway programmes and magazines an inflation -proof investment fot the future. The latest item up for sale is an England v Holland international programme from 1950. The programme comemmorates the first interntional match held at London's Empress Hall on 26th October 1950. The highest current bid is £10 but this is expected to go higher in the four remaining days the item is on sale. Several cycle speedway items have attracted good prices in recent months. The most sought item is the limited edition 50 Years of Cycle Speedway which was published in 1995 and now sells for £25 plus. It's original price was a mere £8.50. I'm selling this because I have a new bike now, so there is nothing wrong with this. I'm looking for £300 ono for it and I live in Poole. The 2011 British Team Championship DVD from Astley & Tyldesley is now on sale. Modestly priced at £7.00 including post and packing, the DVD is available from Alan Hewitson at alan.hewitson@sky.com. Incidentally Alan points out that the 2011 version has no graphics, as in previous years, but that shouldn't detract anyone's enjoyment of the DVD.

The first pair are Miche hubs with blue rims (they have been sprayed but not by Neil), with tyres. Both have the odd spoke missing. Neil has had them a couple of years but never used them, is looking for £30. The other pair are red Quando hubs with red rims and tyres. Although used for two seasons they are practically brand new as they Neil has trained on them a couple of times and raced on them once. He is looking for £40.
