SPONSORSHIPS MUST BE REGISTERED – posted 12 March 2013
Clubs and individuals have been reminded that they must register any form of advertising, other than manufacturers’ logos, displayed on race clothing.
British Cycling issued the following reminder earlier today.
“Clubs are reminded that as per British Cycling’s General Technical Regulation 9.2, any commercial endorsements (apart from the clothing manufacture's logo) which appear on their clothing must be registered with British Cycling. This includes any endorsements worn by individuals rather than the club as a whole.
“This is registration is free for BC Go Ride Clubs and costs £62 per club for the first four endorsements for other clubs and teams.
“This process firstly enables clubs to manage those endorsements which might appear on their competition clothing which might conflict with those key sponsors of that club. It also ensures that where a sponsor requests that its name appears on team clothing that the sport as a whole gets some recompense for this privilege. This is even more so given that the sport is regularly promoted on television.”
