BIRMINGHAM SIGNING REMAINS TIGHT-LIPPED - posted 8 January 2010

The final member of the Monarchs line up for next year has been announced!

Although he did have issues in actually signing on the dotted line, the club is delighted that Anderson James has chosen the Monarchs over many other clubs. Sporting a Dominic Rychardski haircut, Anderson was happy to have his photo taken but preferred not to be interviewed - the little he did say though was difficult to understand (no surprise there then with Andy as his Dad!).

Anderson's debut at the track will hopefully be very soon in the New Year.  He is hoping to borrow a Marcus Wadhams machine for this debut as it would appear to be the closest size-wise we can find.

Congratulations to Ange and Andy James on pointing their young son in the right direction. Anderson was born on the 19th December and weighed in at 6lb 5 oz.

Coventry Cycle Speedway club send congratulations to club secretary Jez Hughes and partner Kirsty upon the birth of a son, Ruary Jeffrey David, who arrived at 10.28am on Thursday 12th November. Mother and son are doing fine.

Congratulations to Jessie Varnish, daughter of cycle speedway legend Jim Varnish, on coming second to Victoria Pendleton in the National Track Championships in Manchester.  Being beaten by Olympic champion Pendleton is certainly a great performance which must make the Varnish family very proud indeed.  Dare we hope for medal in London 2012?

From everyone at Sheffield, may we offer our congratulations via your medium to Horspath for winning the 2009 Premier League.  May we also congratulate all teams - Horspath, Birmingham, Poole, Wednesfield, Great Blakenham, Norwich and Leicester - for making the 2009 season so memorable and making sure that were no easy matches nor any easy races!

Congratulations to Ben and Mark on winning their Welsh under-16s and senior titles last weekend.  You thoroughly deserve your titles and we at Newport are proud of you both.

You have had fine seasons in the PL and we at Newport have enjoyed training you, but we may have to stop now as you both are threatening my five Welsh titles.  Seriously though once again well done to you both, and to the promoting club East Newport on presenting a good day's racing.
